Self Care September Recap - Week 1

We’re a little over a week into Self Care September, a month-long challenge where we can share ideas and support each other to take better care of ourselves!

I’ve really enjoyed seeing what other people are doing, and coming up with my own simple actions to fulfill each prompt. Here are my first 9 (in backwards order):

And here are some of my favorites from other participants:

Today is day 5: Tactile Pleasures of #cfcwselfcareseptember with @rebecca_hass As you may know, I LOVE fabric. Sewing and reupholstering are two of my hobbies. I've been known to splurge on silk skirts and velvet down pillows. Sometimes my purchases are just for luxury, but I believe there is more to it than the surface. I got interested in sewing because I have sensitive skin but I still love fashion. A lot of the organic clothing companies focus on athletic wear, which is great, but I usually go for a more classy, dressy, vintage, creative style. (I do love @wearpact when I'm going for a more casual look like today.) An important part of my self care is wearing clothes that are not made from uncomfortable synthetic fabrics, ideally sustainable to care for the earth as well. Pictured are my pillow covers I made from velvet fabrics to add a bit of luxury to my life, and see my sheepskins? They have been really popular in home decor lately, but I originally bought them for my kundalini yoga practice, also an important part of self care. (If you've never done kundalini before, look it up! It is more about breathing and simple repetitive movements than the more widely practiced hatha.) Fabulous fabrics remind me that I'm worth it (and I get to save $ by making). . . . ************* #selfcare #selfie #selflove #empowered #fabric #fashion #sewing #upholstery #homedecor #velvet #downpillow #homedesign #kundalini #kundaliniyoga #kundaliniawakening #sheepskin #creatives #creativity #luxurylifestyle #lux #sustainablefashion #sustainability
